Prof. Artal has pioneered innovative and significant advances in the methods for studying the optics of the eye and to understand the factors that limit human vision. He has published more than 200 papers that received more than 7500 citations (H-index: 45). He is a fellow member of the OSA, EOS, ARVO and SPIE. He received the prestigious award “Edwin H. Land Medal” in 2013, the King "Jaime I" award in 2015 and the Spanish National Research Award in 2018. He is a co-inventor of 18 international patents and co-founder of two spin-off companies.
